Oisín and Niamh in “Tír na nÓg”

Over the last few weeks I have gotten lots of questions about the Grá (Irish word for love) collection and where the inspiration came from.
The collection is inspired by the love story of Oisín and Niamh in “Tír na nÓg” (The Land of the Young).

While Oisín was hunting he was enchanted and fell in love with Niamh Cinn Óir (Niamh of the golden hair) daughter to the King of “Tír na nÓg”. Oisín and Niamh married and lived happily for thousands of years on the magical island of eternal youth off the west coast of Ireland. A land of happiness, beauty and good health.

While at a friends wedding I saw this beautiful flower heart and knew that this would inspire my paintings and my jewellery.
