How to keep your Silver Shining in the Sunshine

How to keep your Silver Shining in the Sunshine.

How to keep your Silver Shining in the Sunshine.  All Sterling Silver contains traces of other metals.  The other metals, particularly copper, reacts to moisture and pollutants in the air, causing the sterling silver to tarnish or discolor.   Our gold and silver jewellery is hallmarked in the assay office in Dublin Castle, Ireland, and has our makers mark of MDB on each piece. You can take steps to prevent this happening, or if your jewellery does tarnish you can take steps to remove it.
  • Hot and humid weather can cause jewellery to tarnish faster, so maybe confine your silver jewellery to night wear during extremely hot weather.
  • Regularly polish your silver jewellery with a polishing cloth or dry soft cloth.
  • Don't leave silver jewellery unprotected in the bathroom where atmosphere can be humid and moist.
  • Don't wear silver jewellery on the beach, in the shower, in the swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, etc.
  • If you notice tarnish developing, clean and polish the jewellery immediately.  If polishing doesn't remove the tarnish wash carefully in warm water with a few drops of mild washing up liquid, and dry and polish.
